SILVER SPOONS The Shire Horse Society is pleased to award to any affiliated Society a Silver Spoon for the Best Mare or Filly and a Silver Spoon for the Best Stallion.Conditions of the Awards are: 1. A Spoon for the Best Mare or Filly exhibited in the Shire Classes whose owner shall have been a member of the local Society for not less than six months previous to the date of entry for the Show.2. If not already a member, the winner of the Special Prize must become a member of the Shire Horse Society.3. Mares, five years old and upwards, must produce a foal in the current year or have had a foal in the preceding two years. In the case of in-foal mares, certificate of foaling must be lodged with Secretary of the Shire Horse Society before the prize will be despatched.
4. No animal to be eligible to take more than one Silver Spoon during any one year. The Royal and Shire Horse Society Shows being an exception.5. The winning animal must be registered in the Stud Book or Grade Register 'B'.6. The winning animal must be free from hereditary disease.7. The use of sawdust above the knee, the use of resin, soap or other substances in any form or way designed to give artificial appearance, cording or any other improper means adopted in showing an animal, will act as a disqualification.8. The Council reserve the right in offering their Spoons to award them only to persons approved by the Shire Horse Society and subject to confirmation in the uncontrolled discretion of the Council.9. TIME LIMIT: Official returns of Awards of Spoons must be completed by one month from date of the Show,otherwise such awards will become void.
RULES1. ENTRIES CLOSE 7th July 2010. All entry fees are to be paid by the closing date.2. Exhibitors must complete entry forms, failure to do so will make their animals ineligible to compete.3. All exhibits must be on the Showground by 9.00 am4. Judging commences at 9.00 am prompt.5. Exhibits must not be removed from the Showground before 4.00 pm.6. Should any exhibitor wish to lodge an objection regarding any exhibit in the Show, he must do so in writing to the Secretary within one hour of the end of the judging, accompanied by a deposit of £2.00 which will be retained by the Society if the objection is overruled, but refunded if the objection is upheld.7. All prize winners must parade in the main ring, otherwise prize money will be withheld.8. If there are less than four entries in any class, prize money will be paid at the discretion of the Committee.9. Any exhibitor found using unnatural devices for the preparation of animals for Showing, will be disqualified.10. Horses and property will be considered as being in the exhibitors sole charge. The Committee will not be responsible for damage, loss or injury, owing to accident or from any other cause.11. Parking of transport wagons. Wagons to be parked in the reserved area, and all exhibits to be taken out of the wagons.12. All exhibits must have been the bonafide property of the exhibitor for at least one month prior to the date of the Show.13. The Committee reserve the right to cancel or amalgamate classes for which they consider there to be insufficient entries.14. All exhibitors mut have their own Public Liability Insurance. Please note: Will all exhibitors who won cups in 2009, please return them to Whittaker & Biggs, 39 Derby Street, Leek, who will issue a receipt. It is very important that we have them returned by 27th June 2010 as we need to have them revalued for insurance.
