AWARDS

For the BEST EXHIBIT IN THE SHOW, a Silver Rose Bowl (Challenge Trophy) will be awarded (presented by the Ladies Committee of the Leek & District Show 1965)
A Silver Challenge Trophy, presented by Mrs M Tatton, will be awarded for the exhibit, which, in the opinion of the judge, shows the MOST ORIGINAL USE OF COLOUR
A Challenge Cup presented by Mrs D Whittles will be awarded to the WINNER OF CLASS 6
A Silver Salver (Challenge Trophy) presented by Mrs A R Margary will be awarded to the COMPETITOR GAINING THE THE MOST NUMBER OF POINTS. Points will be given as follows:
First - 4 points, second - 2 points, third - 1 point
A Silver Challenge Trophy presented by the Leek Floral Art Society will be awarded to the MOST ORIGINAL EXHIBIT IN ANY CLASS
The trophies will be presented in the Floral Art Marquee at 4.30 pm, when prize money may also be collected
With the exception of Class 1 and Class 4, all exhibits will be staged on tables against a flat backdrop covered in eau-de-nil fabric

Judged under NAFAS rules
Class 1
'Masked Ball' : A pedestal exhibit. Space allowed - 107 cm width and depth. Height not to exceed 214cm. Backing screen covered in pale apricot fabric. To be viewed from the front.
Class 2
'Tell out the News' : An exhibit. Space allowed - width 92 cm, depth 61 cm, height 92 cm
Class 3
'Jubilation' : An exhibit. Space allowed - width 77 cm, depth 61 cm, height 92 cm
Class 4
'Fiesta' : A hanging exhibit. Spaced allowed - 92 cm diameter. Height from hook 156 cm. No floor placements. To be viewed all round. A loop for hanging should be securely fixed to the exhibit.
Class 5
'It's a piece of cake' : A petite exhibit suitable for top of a cake. Space allowed - 25 cm in width, depth and height. To be displayed on tiers of minimum height 8 cm and maximum height 17 cm.
Class 6
'A Special Occasion' : An exhibit for a buffet table. Space allowed - width 77 cm, depth 61 cm, height 92 cm. This class is open only to competitors who have not won first prize in any Floral Art competition judged under NAFAS rules.
Class 7
'You're invited .............' : An exhibit. Space allowed - width 77 cm, depth 61cm, height 92 cm.
Class 8
'50/50' : a Contemporay exhibit. Space allowed - width 61 cm, depth 61 cm, height 92 cm

 

REGULATIONS
The position occupied by all exhibits will be decided by the Committee and a card with the name and address of each exhibitor will be placed on each exhibit.
Exhibitors using drapes must provide their own supports. The drapes must not be attached to the backing material.
The 'space allowed' refers to the space allowed for the exhibit, NOT to the size of the exhibit.
All entries must be on the official entry form, which must be accompanied by a fee of £0.50 per entry. These should be sent to the Competition Secretary. To assist the Committee, would competitors forward entries by not later than 22nd July 2009. Competitors may enter any number of classes and if they wish, more than one entry in any class.
Exhibits may be brought to the marquee ready, or partially arranged and may be arranged in the marquee between 4.00 pm and 9.00 pm on Friday 24th July 2009 and by special arrangement before 8.30 am on Saturday 25th July 2009. The exhibits must be the unaided work of the competitor and must not have been used in any previous competition.
No exhibit may be touched by the exhibitor between 8.30 am and 4.30 pm on Saturday 25th July 2009, except with the permission of the Secretary.
Photographs of the exhibits may be taken after the judging on Saturday 25th July 2009.
All exhibits must be removed from the marquee by not later than 5.00 pm on Saturday 25th July 2009.
All classes will be judged according to the NAFAS Competitions Manual - 1st Edition 2001.
ALL COMPETITORS ARE ADVISED TO CONSULT THIS HANDBOOK.
